Air Tank Inspection

Key Inspection Steps

  1. Preparation
  • Review maintenance history and operational records
  • Ensure inspection tools are ready (Ultrasonic, Thickness Gauge, Visual tools)
  1. External Inspection
  • Check tank body for corrosion, dents, cracks, or leaks
  • Inspect connections, valves, pressure gauges, and supports
  • Check surface coatings and protective layers
  1. Internal Inspection
  • Drain the tank and open for internal inspection
  • Look for corrosion, scaling, cracks, or pitting
  • Inspect internal baffles or supports if present
  1. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
  • Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement (UTM):Measure wall thickness
  • Visual Testing (VT):Detect surface defects
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) or Dye Penetrant Testing (PT):Detect cracks (if applicable)

  • Record all defects, thickness measurements, and anomalies
